E Visas: Work
E1: Professor
A foreigner qualified by the ‘Higher education Act’, seeking to give lectures or aid research in his/her field of expertise at above-college-level educational facilities.
E2: Foreign Langauge Instructor
Those foreigners qualified by Minister of Justice seeking to teach spoken foreign language at:
- Above-elementary school level educational / research facility
- Company / broadcast station-owned linguistic facilities
- Other similar organizations
E-3: Research
Those invited by public / private institution in Korea to engage in research and development relating to natural science or advanced technology.
E-4: Technological Guidance
- Those invited by Korean public / private organization to offer special technology or expertise in natural science or high technology field
- Those who offer special technology or expertise unavailable in Korea.
E-5: Special Profession
Those foreigners with international license for lawyer, CPA, physician, or other such profession recognized by Korean law who wish to practice their profession in their respective areas as permitted under Korean law.
E-6: Culture/Art
Those participating in musical, artistic, or literary activities such as pop entertainment, musical performances, sport games, advertisement or fashion modeling for profitable purposes.
E-7: Specially Designated Activities
Those participating in activities specially designated by the Minister of Justice through contract with public/private organization in Korea.
H-1: Working Holiday
Those tourists seeking short term employment in Korea for the purpose of paying for the expenses , whose nationality is that of those countries that have entered into a MOU or an official Agreement on Working Holiday with Korea.
F Visas: Residency
F-1: Visiting and Staying with Relatives
- Those who come to visit their relatives or stay with their family member.
- Housekeepers working for diplomatic and consular personnel in Korea or foreign investor who has invested more than 500,000 US dollars.
- Those residing with a Diplomacy(A-1), Official MIssion(A-2) or Negotiation(A-3) status holder
F-2: Residency
- Spouse of a Korean national or a permanent residence status (F-5 visa) holder.
- Those who are granted Refugee Recognition.

- Those who had Korean nationality in the past, but have since acquired nationality of another country.
- Those with a non-Korean nationality who has at least one parent or grandparent who is Korean or had Korean nationality in the past.
D Visas: Study/Business
D-1: Culture/Art
- Those participating in a non-profit artistic or academic activity.
- Those researching or being trained by the expert of Korean cultural tradition or art.
D-2: Overseas Study:
Those seeking standard high level education (bachelor, master or doctor) or engagement in specific research at a college, university or graduate school set up under provisions of the ‘Education Law’ or at an educational facility set up under the provision of the related special law.
D-4: General Training
- Those studying Korean language at a university-operated language institute.
- Those being educated in educational facilities other than academic research organizations or educational organizations that fall under overseas study(D-2) status.
- Those learning technology or skills at a national or public research organization.
D-5: Press Coverage
Those collecting news materials or engaging in reporting activities while staying in Korea who are dispatched by or under contract with a newspaper, broadcasting station, magazine, or other forms of the media of a foreign origin.
D-6: Religious Works
- A person who is dispatched to the related Korean religious organization or branch by the foreign religious body or social welfare organization.
- A person who is willing to engage in social welfare activities invited by Korean religious body or social welfare organ.
D-7: Intra-Company Transfer
Those who:
- Has worked for more than a year for the headquarters, a branch, or any other establishment by a public institution, organization or company of a foreign origin
- Are now being dispatched as a specialist at the branch office, subsidiary or supervising office of foreign company in Korea or an interrelated company appointed by the Minister of Justice of Korea.
D-8: Corporate Investment
A specialist participating in administration / management or production / technological development of a foreign investment company as outlined by the「Foreign Investment Promotion Act.
D-9: Trade Management
- A specialist dispatched to a public or private organization in Korea for installation, operation and repair of imported machinery or supervising production of industrial facility
- A specialist wishing to establish and manage a company in Korea or engage in trades or other profitable businesses
C Visas: Tourist/Transit
C-1: Temporary Press Coverage
Those seeking participation in temporary news coverage or reporting activities.
C-3: Temporary Visit
Those seeking short term stay for travel/transit, medical treatment, visiting relatives, a major sporting event, attending conferences, various cultural or artistic events, religious ceremony, or other similar reasons (For non-profit purposes only)
C-3-4: Temporary Business
Those seeking short-term stay for market research, liaison, observation, consultation, contract, installation / repair/ inspection / operation of machinery for import / export, or any such similar purpose.
C-4: Temporary Employment
Those seeking temporary employment such as short-term entertainment, advertisement, fashion model, lecture, research or technical training, etc.
