About the program

TEFL Course Live is a complete instructor-led online 120-hour TEFL course that includes the option of adding 10 days of in-class observed teaching practice, in China or Thailand, that is all affiliated with the University of Northern Colorado.

This course allows you to earn your TEFL certificate with the possibility of also earning graduate-level university credit that can be applied to an MA TESOL or a similar degree.

Curriculum
The online curriculum is identical to our classroom course. In addition to the theory, trainees are expected to complete the following:
Before arrival (online portion)
- 6 hours of training videos made with footage from real classes – observation forms for each video
- 3 lesson plans – with detailed feedback from professional teachers
- 2 hours of observed teaching practice – deliver lesson and receive feedback from seasoned teachers
- Materials compilation project – justify and defend choices of classroom materials used during observed teaching practices
- Language learning and student profile research project
- 11 quizzes, 1 mid-term exam and 1 final exam
During the optional classroom portion
- 6 hours of observed teaching practice – receive feedback from seasoned teachers
- 6 hours of observing experienced ESL teachers
- 10 course days where experienced teacher trainers will help you plan and improve your classes
- Foreign language journal student profile – 2 hours of learning a foreign language (Swahili) to apply your experience as a learner in your ESL teaching
- Language learning and student profile research project
- Materials Compilation Project – justify and defend your choices of classroom materials used during your observed teaching practices
